PUT-IN-BAY, Ohio – You probably know that the Declaration of Independence was adopted on July 4, 1776, proclaiming the colonies’ sovereignty from England. But did you know that it wasn’t signed until a month later?
“The signing date is as important as the declaration,” said David Zavagno, a Solon resident who hopes to increase the profile of Aug. 2, 1776, as part of the 250th anniversary celebration of America’s founding next year.
