Commemorative Plaque

The focus of the Bicentennial celebration was to honor the service of the 1813 Sailors and have individuals stand in their place either on land or on the seas so their names as well as service would be noted.

A Permanent Plaque is going to be unveiled at Put-in-Bay on Memorial Day that will have every Sailor’s name along with the individual who “served” in their place in 2013.

The sponsor will receive a certificate with the name of their crew member and will be listed on the plaque with the 1813 crew member they sponsor.

On Memorial Day 2015, at Put-in-Bay, we will unveil the cast bronze and granite, permanent plaque honoring all 557 original sailors, their sponsors and those donors who have helped to make this a reality. All sponsors will be invited to the ceremony.

This will be the conclusion to the Bicentennial Ceremonies with with a celebration including Bands, Speakers, plaque unveiling and Dedication Ceremony.
